Reliability Analysis of Components in Aviation: A Practical
Application
This presentation shows, within civil aviation, a framework
concerning component reliability as a strategy to fulfill all national and international
authorities’ requirements. Based on reliability principles and theory, a methodology was
followed for a particular and suggested component, adjusting some distributions to the most
important failure modes and determining their parameters. Using specific times to failure
(Time Since New - TSN) and censored data, the results achieved allow us to understand
the behaviours of each failure mode, the values for reliability at a particular flight
time and expected failure rates, as well as other information suitable for treatment.
To deal with uncertainties, confidence intervals were considered.
Key Words: Reliability Analysis, Maintenance,
