Reliability Design of Pressurized Structural Devices Under Cycling Load

High-volume manufacturers of consumer items and low-volume producers have the same goal: to bring a product to market using a process focused on designing out or mitigating potential failure modes prior to production. For this activity, the reliability team performs three fundamental activities: Design for Reliability, Reliability Verification and Analytical Physics. Complexity arises when high non-linear geometry or loading makes it difficult to model a system even using available state-of-the-art finite element software or analytical techniques. There have been continuing efforts in developing analytical techniques for those who are responsible for product reliability and product design. Techniques for data acquisition, analysis, test planning and practice with combining reliability techniques using fatigue theory concepts can be a systematic approach to the design process. In this presentation we will discuss the development phase through the application of Design of Experiments techniques, Accelerated Life Testing and Monte Carlo simulation for the design of pressurized flexible structural elements for different types of stress levels.
