Developing a Reliability Centered Culture
(Reliability Program)
At the very core of the welfare of society lies the creation of a secure and effective environment for living, working and cultural interactions. Yet
both the built and natural components of this environment contain risk. Although decisions regarding acceptable risk levels belong to society at
large, analysis of risk related to human-made infrastructure has typically been the domain of engineering. Reliability engineering leaders have
failed to identify and invest in the full range of projects/activities required to support the strategies that will give their organizations the full
benefit of a risk analysis environment (or “Reliability Centered Culture”).
In this tutorial, we will cover the critical imperatives that will enable organizations to develop the right strategies and take them to completion.
We will cover elements of strategy development (such as ideation, nature, vision, engagement, synthesis and transition), as applied to the
development of the reliability program.
Key Words: Reliability,
Risk, Analysis of Risk, Reliability Centered Culture
